Amber Bitch Walk

Amber’s great-grandmother Ophelia had a temper and could shoot straight as an arrow. It’s because of her having this dead-on reputation, that she never had to actually shoot anyone. Surviving back then meant you needed to grow vegetables in the garden or there would be times your children wouldn’t have anything to eat. Ophelia prided herself on saying her children never went hungry. She outlived two husbands, both good men, mourned each of them when they passed, and remained a widow second time around. For some reason, a renowned artist drew a portrait of her, the only semblance of her small but sturdy stature as she’s marching with a group of womenfolk carrying signs for equal rights. Legend has it, with her at the helm, this group of women became the pioneers of the women’s rights movement known as a Bitch Walk. Amber’s grandmother Amelia was only five years old when she marched at her side.

Your non-tax deductible donation will make a real impact on the lives of these retired Thoroughbreds.

An estimated 10,000 Thoroughbred horses are sent to slaughterhouses annually when deemed no longer profitable to their owner's, due to their age, performance, or injuries. Since a racehorse may live 15 to 20 years beyond its competitive career, retirement alternatives can be quite limited. This is a heartbreaking fact.

But at Sunrise Horse Farm we are committed to letting Thoroughbred horses live long, healthy lives well into their golden years.

5-Star Review: Book Seven of the Winning Odds Series - .Beau Born's Legacy

July 3, 2019
Another ride with my favorite characters

I have been in love with this series from Page one of Against The Odds, and I'm still in love at the close of book seven. What I enjoy about these books is the authenticity of the racetrack and horseman and horses that are depicted. You know the author has a real love and connection to this sport and to the beautiful animals that inspire us. The characters feel very real and I want to meet them all someday, but alas I can only do that on the pages. The best thing I read at the end of the book was that book 8 was already in the works. Bravo! And hurry lol

5 -Star Review: Fiona        A truly inspiring and loving story that will leave you feeling as though you were part of this journey

January 26, 2018

Format: Paperback

Fiona is such a wonderful story right from the very beginning that you feel like you have known her and you go on this journey to go back to a small town where she came from and where her family still resides. You get to meet many people along the way that will be key players such as her grandmother , her mom and others and encounter one or two not so worth knowing, but isn't that real life . She will show you excitement meeting her grandma and finding her mom. Fiona has to adapt to the people from her little town and combine the life she has with the life she wants to now have - knowing her identity.! We all know we have many people and things that make us who we are. Fiona was missing some of this crucial information. There will be some very touching scenes that will happen along the way which I will save for you to discover and enjoy on your own. Without giving away the ending I was hoping all along that the ending was inspiring and guess what "oh well you will have to find out for yourself" Congratulations to the Author MaryAnn Myers. I look forward to more books in the near future.

MaryAnn Myers delivered another winner  5-Star Review: Ben Said

"Ben Said" is another win for MaryAnn Myers. We've all grown to love the people and horses we have met in MaryAnn's books and so it is a pleasure to be with so many of them once again. It is a "page turner" and MaryAnn does save the absolute best part for last, in my opinion. The book just gets better and better. And yes, Tetch is there. Being in a similar line of work, I had tears in my eyes as Tetch lovingly used her gifts once again. - Thank you, MaryAnn, for another gift from you for all of us!

5-Star Review: Tetch

No wonder Ms Myers books are so popular. This is a light, fun read in a genre new to me. Her deep experience with horses and their world will draw you in, but you are also in for humor and building suspense that she cranks up to teeth-grinding urgency. TETCH will make you rethink honor, justice, cruelty, and heroism helped my magical powers. A delight for young and old.
